Legacy Christian Academy Summary
Legacy Christian Academy, founded in 1967 as Xenia Christian Day School, is a private, college-preparatory, non-denominational PreK-12 school whose mission is Equipping Leaders for Christ. Students meet admissions standards both academically and spiritually. LCA’s students come from a 5- county area. LCA is located on the historic site of the Ohio Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Orphan’s Home and facilities include four buildings: two academic buildings, a gymnasium, and a 700-seat auditorium. Additionally, LCA utilizes the Wooden Family Fieldhouse and the athletic fields located on the Athletes in Action campus, located within walking distance from the school. LCA is fully committed to maintaining an ethnically/culturally diverse faculty and student body within a biblical community.
Position Summary
The Intervention Specialist supports the academic, behavioral, and spiritual growth of students by providing targeted interventions that reflect Christ-centered excellence. This individual works closely with teachers, administrators, and families, as well as local public schools, to identify student needs, implement evidence-based intervention plans, and monitor progress to ensure students receive the support necessary to thrive. The role requires strong collaboration, data-informed decision-making, and a compassionate approach to meeting diverse learning needs. The Intervention Specialist must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, integrity, confidentiality, and organizational skill while encouraging students in a manner consistent with our mission of Equipping Leaders for Christ. As a representative of the living curriculum at Legacy Christian Academy, this individual serves with humility, dedication, and a heart for ministry, reflecting Christ in all interactions with students, staff, and families.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor degree or Master degree in Intervention or Special Education
- Obtain an ODE Intervention or Special Education K-12 license to teach in an Ohio nonpublic school prior to employment
- ACSI Professional Staff or Intervention Specialist Certification or ability to obtain ACSI Certification prior to employment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Support & Intervention:
- Identify students in need of academic, behavioral, or executive-function support through referrals, assessments, and teacher collaboration.
- Develop and implement individualized intervention and accommodation plans using research-based strategies aligned with student needs.
- Provide small-group and one-on-one instruction to reinforce core academic skills and promote student success.
- Monitor student progress through data collection, regular assessments, and ongoing documentation.
- Adjust intervention plans as needed to ensure growth and mastery of targeted skills.
- Partner with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction and provide instructional strategies to enhance student learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, goals, and areas of need with grace, clarity, and professionalism.
- Participate in student support meetings, solution teams, and collaborative planning sessions with faculty and administrators.
- Serve as a resource to teachers regarding intervention practices, accommodations, and classroom support.
- Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and family information, upholding ethical and professional standards.
Professional Growth & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, intervention plans, assessment data, and parent communication.
- Assist with accommodation plans, progress monitoring systems, and documentation required for student support services.
- Participate in ongoing professional development in intervention strategies, student support practices, and Christian education.
- Stay current on effective intervention methods, assessment tools, and instructional resources.
Living Curriculum Representative:
- Pursue excellence in the position at all times, maintaining a consistent heart attitude of working for the Lord and not for men (Colossians 3:23).
- Humbly serve others in a manner that reflects Christ’s love and character (Philippians 2:3), modeling godly character and encouraging others to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).
- Serve as a minister of the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20) in leading other employees and Legacy Christian Academy students and families by example and instruction in thought, word, and deed (Philippians 4:8-9).
Miscellaneous Service:
- Participate in assigned LCA safety and security roles (e.g. door duty, lunch duty, recess duty, early room duty, fire drill and lock down procedures).
- Serve in LCA’s discipleship and class mentor programs as assigned (e.g. Chapel attendance, Day of Prayer and Service, Class Mentoring).
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
- Skilled in utilizing Google Suite applications, including Google Drive
- Ability to utilize a learning management system (e.g. Google Classroom) for course organization and student success
- Proficiency with LCA’s school information system for communication and documentation (e.g. FACTS SIS)
- Experience with JPSN Scholarship Program
