intervention specialist, Full-time
 

Summary:
An LCA intervention specialist is called to educate and equip leaders for Christ within his or her classroom and other interactions with the LCA student body. An LCA intervention specialist seeks to maximize the success of LCA students with identified learning needs. The intervention specialist will be responsible for participating in the IEP creation process (including collecting and providing data to the public school), as well as leading intervention in small group and inclusion contexts, and performing other non-teaching duties as assigned by administration. 

Legacy Christian Academy, founded in 1967 as Xenia Christian Day School, is a private, college-preparatory, non-denominational PreK-12 school with the mission of Equipping leaders for Christ. Students meet admissions standards both academically and spiritually. LCA’s 575 students come from a 5-county area. LCA is located on the historic site of the Ohio Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Orphans’ Home and facilities include four buildings: two academic buildings, a gymnasium, and a 750-seat auditorium. LCA also uses athletic fields located on the Athletes in Action campus, within walking distance from the school. LCA is fully committed to maintaining an ethnically/culturally diverse faculty and student body within a biblical community.


Position Requirements:

  • Full support for LCA’s mission, vision, philosophy, core values, and statement of faith
  • Passion for building relationships with students, parents, and faculty in a Christian environment with the mission of Equipping Leaders for Christ
  • Skill at managing educational accommodations and modifications
  • A clear desire and ability to teach and support students and teachers in a student-centered, biblically-integrated learning environment
  • Interest in innovatively and appropriately bringing technology into the classroom to support student learning
  • Demonstrated strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Team orientation
  • Patient and flexible while leading toward student success
  • Experience in school student support services, especially academic
  • Careful to maintain student confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and ability to work and lead as part of a team
  • Ability to interpret, implement, and write Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs)
  • Familiarity with the RTI process
  • Bachelor’s degree; ODE intervention specialist licensure required
  • Prior to employment: Obtain ACSI specialist teacher certification in special education

     

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in special education, educational intervention, or related field
  • Leadership experience, especially educational leadership experience 
  • Five years' experience teaching at various levels, special education or inclusion classroom experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in innovatively and appropriately bringing technology into the classroom to amplify and accelerate student learning
  • Ability and interest in involvement in the LCA co-curricular program (related experience preferred)
