Legacy Christian Academy’s welcoming atmosphere and student body embrace students with a wide-range of academic abilities. We believe that God has fearfully and wonderfully made each of us as unique individuals. Our mission is to compassionately identify the needs of students and partner with parents to offer and implement solutions, so each student can grow to his or her highest potential to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ until He returns.
Legacy Christian Academy offers evidence-based approaches in the identification and intervention of students with exceptionalities. We want every student to learn to the best of their ability and receive the help they need. This is why we have implemented a researched strategy called Response to Intervention (RTI). This is a three-tiered approach to help identify struggling students and get them the help they need before they fall behind. This process prevents the misdiagnosis of students entering special education services and rightly identifies students with exceptionalities.
In order to provide every student with the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) that will nurture and produce the best possible learning outcomes, we work in conjunction with local state-licensed school psychologists who evaluate referrals to ensure early identification and intervention implementation. All Legacy Christian Academy intervention specialists are licensed by the state of Ohio and are trained in evidence-based intervention strategies.
We are also a Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship program provider. As a JPSN provider, we are able to offer intervention, speech and language, and occupational therapy services for students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Legacy Christian Academy does not implement 504 plans. Instead, an Academic Plan (AP) may be written for students who have a short-term or long-term documented educational need for classroom accommodations but who do not qualify for an IEP. APs are implemented by classroom teachers rather than intervention specialists.
