Ohio State Tax Credit

Ohio Taxpayers can claim a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit through financial participation in certified SGOs:

• Individual Filers: Claim up to $750.
• Married Couples Filing Jointly: Claim up to $1,500.
• Deadline: Contributions can be made through Tax Day (April 15th) for the prior tax year to qualify.
• How it Works: To receive the credit, simply submit your SGO donation receipt with your Ohio state tax return. (More information can be found on the Ohio Department of Taxation website).

Federal Tax Credit

The new federal tax credit for K-12 scholarships expands giving opportunities nationwide:

• Dollar-for-Dollar Credit: Individual taxpayers across the U.S. can claim a federal tax credit of up to $1,700 for contributions to qualifying SGOs.
• Out-of-State Support: Friends, extended family, and alumni living outside of Ohio can now utilize their federal tax liability to support scholarships for LCA students.
• Coordination of Credits: Federal tax law specifies that the federal credit is reduced by any state-level tax credit claimed on the same gift. We encourage donors to consult their tax professional to coordinate their state and federal giving strategies.

Legacy Education Affordability Fund (LEAF) is another Ohio SGO that was founded to provide scholarships for students at Legacy Christian Academy. Since the 2025 tax year, Legacy Christian Academy has recommended that donors contribute to the OCEN SGO rather than the LEAF SGO. The OCEN SGO is Legacy Christian Academy's recommended SGO.
