Legacy Christian Academy Summary

Legacy Christian Academy, founded in 1967 as Xenia Christian Day School, is a private, college-preparatory, non-denominational PreK-12 school whose mission is Equipping Leaders for Christ. Students meet admissions standards both academically and spiritually. LCA’s students come from a 5-county area. LCA is located on the historic site of the Ohio Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Orphan’s Home and facilities include four buildings: two academic buildings, a gymnasium, and a 700-seat auditorium. Additionally, LCA utilizes the Wooden Family Fieldhouse and the athletic fields located on the Athletes in Action campus, located within walking distance from the school. LCA is fully committed to maintaining an ethnically/culturally diverse faculty and student body within a biblical community.

Position Summary

The Summer Strength and Conditioning Coach helps steward the physical gifts and athletic potential God has entrusted to our students, promoting health, discipline, and excellence through Christ-centered training. This individual is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strength and conditioning programs that enhance athletic performance, reduce injury risk, and cultivate lifelong habits of fitness and wellness. The Summer Strength and Conditioning Coach works collaboratively with the athletic department to support student-athletes across all sports, providing instruction in proper technique, strength development, speed, agility, and overall conditioning. This position serves as both a mentor and role model, instilling character, perseverance, teamwork, and Christlike sportsmanship in every athlete. This individual must demonstrate strong leadership, knowledge of exercise science principles, organization, and a commitment to student safety. Above all, the Summer Strength and Conditioning Coach must be in alignment with our mission of Equipping Leaders for Christ, serving with integrity and a heart for ministry, and reflecting Christ in all aspects of leadership as a representative of the living curriculum at Legacy Christian Academy.

Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma with 4 years experience OR Bachelor degree with no experience
  • Obtain an ODE PAP Certificate

  • Preference given to candidates with a degree related to this position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
Training and Student Support:
  • Develop and implement structured summer strength and conditioning programs that align with best practices in exercise science and support the performance goals of each athletic team.
  • Design age-appropriate, sport-specific training plans that enhance strength, speed, agility, endurance, flexibility, and injury prevention.
  • Instruct student-athletes in proper lifting techniques, movement mechanics, and safe equipment usage.
  • Supervise all strength and conditioning sessions to ensure safety, accountability, and proper execution of exercises.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Department to align training programs with sport needs, seasonal timing, and athlete workload management.
  • Monitor and evaluate student-athlete progress through measurable performance metrics and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Promote injury prevention strategies, recovery protocols, hydration awareness, and overall wellness education.
  • Maintain and inspect weight room and conditioning equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment.
  • Enforce safety standards, facility policies, and behavioral expectations during all training sessions.
  • Maintain accurate training records and attendance documentation as required.
  • Mentor student-athletes in character development, perseverance, teamwork, and leadership.
  • Support the mission of Legacy Christian Academy by actively contributing to a positive, faith-filled athletic culture.
  • Participate in professional development to remain current on strength and conditioning methodologies and certifications.
  • Assist with athletic events, camps, or additional duties as assigned by school leadership.

  • Pursue excellence in the position at all times, maintaining a consistent heart attitude of working for the Lord and not for men (Colossians 3:23).
  • Humbly serve others in a manner that reflects Christ’s love and character (Philippians 2:3), modeling godly character and encouraging others to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).
  • Serve as a minister of the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20) in leading other employees and Legacy Christian Academy students and families by example and instruction in thought, word, and deed (Philippians 4:8-9).
Knowledge and Skills
  • Skilled in utilizing Google Suite applications, including Google Drive
